KYC Rejected on OKX or Binance: Causes and Fixes

Unreadable photo, mismatched details, VPN, unsupported document: the real causes behind a rejected KYC and, for each one, the correction that makes the second attempt pass.

KYC Rejected on OKX or Binance: Causes and Fixes

Reviewed on July 12, 2026. Fees, product availability, tax and regulatory rules can change. Verify live platform screens and official sources before acting.

2026 action checklist

  • Make name, birth date and address match the document exactly.
  • Use an accepted, unexpired original document in clear lighting.
  • Disable VPN or proxy and retry only after reading the stated rejection reason.

A rejected identity verification feels arbitrary, but it almost never is: automated KYC systems fail on a short list of concrete causes, and each has a concrete fix. Here are the 7 causes behind the vast majority of rejections on OKX, Binance and similar platforms — and what to change before retrying.

The 7 causes and their fixes

1. Unreadable document photo

Glare on the hologram, blur, cropped corners, dark room. Fix: daylight, dark plain background, all four corners visible, no flash directly on the card, and check sharpness before submitting.

2. Entered details that differ from the document

A missing middle name, a different spelling, a date typo — automated matching is strict. Fix: copy the document character for character, including all given names in order.

3. Unsupported or expired document

Each platform lists accepted documents per country; some IDs or old formats aren't supported. Fix: check the accepted list shown in the verification flow and use a passport when in doubt — it is the most universally supported document.

4. Face verification fails

Bad lighting, hat, glasses, backlight, or a camera too close. Fix: well-lit room, light in front of you (not behind), bare face, follow the movement prompts calmly. If the app keeps failing, try the other device (phone vs computer).

5. VPN or country mismatch

Declared country, document country and IP location that disagree trigger reviews or rejections. Fix: turn the VPN off during registration and verification, and register with the country of your document.

6. Duplicate account

A failed attempt followed by a fresh account with the same identity gets both frozen — identity data is deduplicated. Fix: never create a second account; retry on the first one, or contact support to resolve the existing file.

7. Country restrictions

Some jurisdictions simply aren't served, or require a different local entity. Fix: check the platform's list of supported countries for your residence; there is no legitimate workaround, and pretending another residence violates the terms of service.

Retrying properly

  1. Read the rejection reason — platforms usually state the category.
  2. Fix the one cause identified rather than changing everything at once.
  3. Resubmit through the same account; approvals after a corrected retry usually arrive within minutes to hours.
  4. Still stuck after two clean attempts? Open a support ticket with your case ID instead of guessing.

FAQ

How long does a manual review take? Usually 24–48 hours; longer during peak periods. Opening tickets repeatedly does not speed it up.

Can I verify with my residence permit? On many platforms yes, depending on the country — the in-flow list is authoritative. A passport remains the safest choice.

My KYC passed but withdrawals are still limited — why? Some limits lift progressively or require an extra verification tier; check the verification page for a pending level rather than assuming an error. Once verified, secure the account before depositing.
